In the far north of Europe lies a truly unique course: the only place in the world where you can strike a golf ball in one country and watch it land—literally an hour later—in another.
Straddling the border between Sweden and Finland, almost at the Arctic Circle, sits the Tornio Golf Club. A remarkable layout that turns a simple round of golf into an international experience. Seven holes are located in Sweden and eleven in Finland, meaning players cross an international border four times in a single round.
The most spectacular moment comes at the 6th hole—a 132-yard par 3 where the tee box is in Sweden and the green is in Finland. The time difference does the rest: Finland is one hour ahead of Sweden. So your ball takes off in one country… and lands an hour into the future.
The experience becomes even more surreal in summer, when the sun barely sets. Under the midnight sun, you can play virtually at any hour of the day. You might finish one hole just before midnight in Sweden and tee off on the next at 1:00 a.m. in Finland… without a single minute passing on your watch.
Designed by architect Åke Persson, this course is more than a geographical curiosity—it’s an invitation to experience golf from a completely different perspective. Because here, you don’t just change holes. You change countries.
And not many golfers can say they hit the ball so well… they sent it abroad.
