Cantabrian golfer José Antonio Salas López made an excellent impression at the 2026 Men’s Región de Murcia Cup, held from February 20 to 22 at the demanding Hacienda del Álamo Golf Resort (Murcia) course. The event counted toward the World Amateur Golf Ranking and the National Under-18 Ranking.
From the very start of the tournament, Salas delivered an outstanding performance: in the opening round he carded a spectacular 63 (-9), with five birdies and two eagles, taking the lead in the standings.
In the second round, the Cantabrian continued battling at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 75, remaining among the best and contesting the lead day after day.
In the final round, Salas finished with a 79, which allowed him to secure a creditable third place with a total of 217 (+1), tied with two other players and behind the tournament champion, Nicolás Vidal, who claimed victory with 212 (-4).
