Golf Santa Marina in the spotlight on golfindustria.es for hosting the Comillas Golf Camp by Forenex.

Golf Santa Marina once again takes center stage this summer in Spanish junior golf, consolidating its position as one of the leading venues in northern Spain for training, development, and the purest golf experience.

From June 27 to July 11, 2026, the Cantabrian course will host a new edition of the Comillas Golf Camp, a well-established event on the summer calendar that further reinforces the club’s role as an ideal setting for the development of young golfers.

The camp, which has held the official seal of approval of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation since 1993, is designed as a dynamic and motivating performance-improvement program.

Participants will benefit from daily golf training sessions using cutting-edge methodology, delivered by coaches such as Martin Cummins, Freddy Lilly, José Manuel Lara and Jae Hoon Chang “Chegun, Dr. Swing”; intensive classes focused on swing techniques, physical preparation, short game and on-course strategy; weekly competitions; and even special guest appearances by Nacho Garrido, Juan Postigo, Marc Oller and Alejandro de Miguel, among others.

Beyond the training activity, the true star is the course itself. Golf Santa Marina is an eighteen-hole layout designed by Severiano Ballesteros, perfectly integrated into the natural surroundings of the estate and conceived to offer a complete, varied playing experience that remains faithful to the philosophy of its creator. Streams, native woodland areas and gently rolling terrain define a modern and competitive layout that gives Cantabria a course with a strong identity and distinctive character.

The design clearly reflects Ballesteros’ legacy in his homeland. Golf Santa Marina offers a course meant to be enjoyed, yet one that demands decision-making from the tee, careful shot interpretation and the use of every club in the bag. It is an honest and strategic course, where reading the course is just as important as execution, and where respect for the natural terrain is an essential part of the experience.

“The course design allows Golf Santa Marina to adapt to all types of players. For higher handicaps it is a fun and forgiving course, while for advanced and professional players it can become a true test, where every club in the bag plays a key role,” explains Mariano Saiz, Club Director.

“Strategy is especially important over the first nine holes, where accuracy is paramount and water hazards and streams clearly influence every shot. On the back nine, the course opens up, rewards long hitting and allows for a different reading of the layout, always maintaining its level of challenge,” adds Mariano.

Within the layout, holes four, five and six form one of the key moments of the round. This demanding stretch is compared by the design itself to a unique “Amen Corner,” where emerging unscathed often determines the outcome of the match and reinforces the competitive character of the course.

The Golf Santa Marina experience goes far beyond the course. The club features a fully equipped driving range, short-game area, croquet lawn, social club and children’s area. All of this is set around a spectacular 16th-century mountain-style manor house and a 17th-century chapel, heritage elements that add character and uniqueness to the venue and enhance the feeling of playing golf in a truly special setting.

During the summer weeks, the course comes alive with young players training, competing and enjoying golf surrounded by nature, the sea and the relaxed atmosphere of the town of Comillas. This context makes Golf Santa Marina an ideal venue for training initiatives, while also positioning it as an attractive destination for any golfer seeking a course with personality, excellent design and perfect integration into its natural surroundings.

Golf Santa Marina thus confirms its status as one of the benchmark courses in northern Spain, successfully combining design, history, services and a layout that captivates players from the first hole to the last.
