At the Men’s Andalusia Cup, held from January 9 to 12, 2026, at Montecastillo Barceló Golf Club, Cantabrian golf was represented by José Antonio Salas, who took part in a highly demanding competition played on a course and under conditions befitting a top-level event. It proved to be a valuable competitive experience at the start of the season.
In the first round, he signed for a score of 72 strokes, a result he repeated in the second round, remaining in the middle positions of the leaderboard. In the third round, he returned a score of 79 strokes, before closing the championship with 76 strokes in the fourth and final round. With a total score of 299 strokes (+11), José Antonio Salas finished in 32nd position in the final standings.
Meanwhile, at the Women’s Andalusia Cup, also held from January 9 to 12, 2026, at Sherry Golf Jerez, Cantabria was represented by María Martínez Navarro and Inés González Ortega. Both competed against a large and strong field of players, showcasing the good form of Cantabrian women’s golf and its presence in national-level competitions.
Inés González Ortega completed all four rounds of the championship with a consistent performance. She opened with a round of 78 strokes, followed by 79 strokes in the second round. In the third round, she carded 80 strokes, a score she repeated in the fourth and final round. With a total of 317 strokes, Inés González Ortega finished the competition in 45th place in the overall standings.
María Martínez Navarro, for her part, competed in the Women’s Andalusia Cup, completing the first three rounds of the tournament. She recorded 79 strokes in the opening round, slightly improving in the second round with 80 strokes, and concluded her participation with a round of 91 strokes in the third round. These results did not allow her to make the cut, and she was therefore unable to continue to the final phase of the competition.
