Passion for Golf and Wine at the 7th Marqués de Riscal Tournament

Golf Santa Marina once again became the heart of summer golf in Cantabria with the celebration of the 7th Marqués de Riscal Tournament, an event that brought together 194 participants, including 16 players in the Supersenior category. Set in an incomparable natural environment and with the course in exceptional condition, the tournament has reaffirmed its place as one of the must-attend events of the golfing calendar.

The competitive and festive atmosphere was elevated by the presence of Bodegas Marqués de Riscal, which offered 11 exclusive wines as prizes, culminating in the presentation of a Magnum of Barón de Chirel to the Scratch winner. The awards ceremony was attended by Verónica Fernández de Córdoba and Carlos Muguiro, board members of the winery, along with Ricardo Diéguez, General Manager.

After the tournament, players and guests enjoyed an open-air cocktail reception, paired with two outstanding wines from the renowned winery, which was recently ranked among the Top 10 Wineries in the World by The World’s Best Vineyards.

All participants expressed their appreciation for both the event’s organization and Marqués de Riscal’s ongoing commitment to golf, highlighting the quality of the tournament and the condition of the course.

Ignacio Contreras Caballero, President of Golf Santa Marina, emphasized the honor it is for the club to collaborate with such a prestigious and historic winery, one that has maintained its innovative spirit from its founding in 1858 to the present day.

In addition to its renowned track record in the wine industry, Marqués de Riscal is currently leading a cultural and aesthetic campaign under the slogan “RISK ALL,” aiming to connect with new audiences through art, architecture, and sensory experience.

This tournament further strengthens its position as one of the most significant summer events at Golf Santa Marina—a club that has already hosted major professional events and, just three years ago, paid tribute to Severiano Ballesteros with appearances by stars like Chema Olazábal, Carlota Ciganda, and José Manuel Carriles.

Golf, wine, culture, and tradition came together once again in an event that is now an essential part of Golf Santa Marina’s DNA.
